Alternative Energy Video Challenge
Unit EQ: How can technologies impacts be both good and bad?
LEQ: What are the requirements of your unit challenge?
Activating Strategies: Hand out challenge sheet and have students read the introduction. Discuss what a lobbyist is.
Acceleration/Previewing/Vocabulary: Lobbyist, geothermal, fuel cell, solar, wind, nuclear,
biomass, waves and tides.

possibly a pre-test matching worksheet would preview and key in on previously covered learning.
Teaching Strategies and Distributed Guided Practice/Summarizing Prompts:
  1. NOTE: Showing the video before having groups choose would give them background into the project.
  2. The project is reviewed by the teacher using the Challenge.
  3. Groups are chosen and the 4 research sheets are chosen
  4. Students go to computer lab and use the google notebook to research the topic they need to know about.
  5. Take notes on research sheets.
Summarizing Strategies:

Have students make a flow chart of the steps in the challenge during the review.

  9. Turn in prep work with rubric.
