Systems Day #8 Inventor 1
Unit EQ: How are technological Systems Different?
LEQ: Can all systems be categorized as one of the three types?
Activating Strategies:
What are problems that the last system you designed might encounter.
  • It doesn't see stairs.
  • Poor traction.
  • Could get stuck.
  • Never Ends.
Acceleration/Previewing/Vocabulary: System,Open Loop, Closed Loop, Programmed Control,
Teaching Strategies and Distributed Guided Practice/Summarizing Prompts:
  1. Open Robolab and Inventor #1
  2. Make sure tools and functions palette are displayed. Use "window menu" to show them.
  3. Demonstrate how to do the following

  • Delete object, Use arrow to select and press delete
  • Delete wire. Right click and delete branchs or remove loose ends.
  • Add, Delete wire branch and drag in new object
  • Move, Use the hand to move whole screen. Use arrow to move one object.
  • Connect, Use the wire spool to connect program objects.
  • Replace, RIght click to replace
  • Wire, Use spool to add a wire.
  • Spacing/alignment, draw box around objects with arrow then choose the button.
Summarizing Strategies:
Reopen inventor 1 and rewire it to go forward for 4 seconds.
Reopen inventor 1 and rewire it to go forward until it hits the touch sensor and stop both motors.
