Unit EQ: What skills are basic necessities for understanding technology?
LEQ: Why are different materials used for different products.
Activating Strategies: Show 2 products that do the same thing. Why are they made off. Have Potter bring in two sports related items.
Acceleration/Previewing/Vocabulary: Word Splash Brittle, Ductile, Density, Elastic, Torsion, Tension
Shearing, Compression, Strength, Hardness, Optical Properties, Transparent, Translucent, Opaque. Thermal Properties, Insulator, Conductor, Electrical Properties, Magnetic Properties
Teaching Strategies and Distributed Guided Practice/Summarizing Prompts:
  1. Bounce on Pogo Stick (have student do it if you are coordination deficient like Mr. Purdy) . Why are the materials chosen.
  2. Distribute Guided notes worksheet.
  3. Discuss Powerpoint slides.
  4. Check for answers on guided notes.
  5. Complete Web Diagram

  • Web diagram completion on properities.
  • Compare and Contrast Homework Worksheet. (plastic plate vs. ceramic plate.)
