What are some ways pinnacle can be used to edit video?

**Activating Strategies:
  • Handout Pinnacle video sheet
  • Introduce lab to students
    • Students must create a video using the resources on the shared drive
    • The video must have each item from the checklist.
  • Move class to computer lab

Acceleration/Previewing/Vocabulary:
Croma-key, Overlay effect, title track, audio track, overlay track, track locking, transition, Green screen,
Transparency, Picture in picture, scaling, cropping, audio dubbing.

Teaching Strategies and Distributed Guided Practice/Summarizing Prompts:
  • Demo different features of pinnacle
  • Edit Menu
    • Change the editing strip to timeline view
    • Browse to the video samples (Shared Drive)
    • These are the videos are not the project you are working on
    • Copy the files you are working with to the C drive
  • Green screen track Vs. Video track
    • The video with the green screen goes on the foreground track.
    • All other videos or pictures (background) goes on the video track
    • Demo Different effects
  • Title Screen
    • Go to title screen menu
    • Create a full screen title
    • You can create a custom background
    • Can create custom text
  • Croma-key
    • How to adjust to remove the green screen
    • Adjust the transparency, saturation, tolerance
  • Picture in picture
    • How to crop and scale a video
    • We use picture in picture for adding green screen video to a project
    • We also used it to add an image like a news topic window.
  • Transitions
    • How to add a transition
    • When you shoot a video clip pause for 5 seconds to add room for transitions.
    • They overlay over the top of the video.
  • Audio dubbing
    • You can add an audio recording into the track for people who are doing the slideshow.
    • You can record a voiceover of a video track to improve the audio.
  • Adjusting volume on a audio track
    • Make points on the volume line of the sound track
    • Adjust volume up and down for lead in and lead outs of a track.
  • Track locking
    • Show where the track locking icon is
    • We lock the tracks because when editing it will move the tracks around and the audio would get out of line with the video.
  • Help students with using pinnacle
